With jazz harmony, mind-bending rhythms and a truly unique songwriting sitting at its heard, KYOTI’s latest release, ‘Citadel’ is a huge, euphoric banger. Bouncing percussion and fluttering synths give a trippy, otherworldly atmosphere that sits below the raw, exposed voice of Ed Burgon, before an impressive dance break turns the track into so much more than the politically charged narrative it had presented itself as so far. On the track, Burgon explains, “In the turbulent times we are currently living through it can be so easy to shut ourselves off. Rather than engage with what is going on across the planet and in society, whether that’s climate change, homelessness, or mental health issues - instead people tend to seek comfort and shelter from those closest to us”.
